Bowsprit

Due to the way the ship was constructed (stored in a wardrobe when not being worked on for safety reasons) I decided to make the Bowsprit off the ship, this would maintain the fact the ship could be left in the safety of its cupboard longer and I also felt that it would be easier to work on off the ship.

Don't laugh but a method I have adopted throughout the build is to use the key in the adjacent the door (door has a door wedge to stop the door moving) as a temporary fixing method for the rigging while I am tying blocks etc.
It keeps the required tension on the rope and is just one less thing to try and hold.

Its a bit unorthodox but it has certainly worked for me (please video below)

Ratlines were produced using the same techniques as the other main masts (albeit a little less knots !)

A block of wood was manufactured to tempo ray hold the Bowsprit with a hole drilled exactly the same angle as the one on the bow of the ship.

I made the spars and also fixed these in place, thinking that anything that could be done without the main ship being in the way was a bonus.

Its time to marry the Bowsprit with the main ship.

Spars

With the UK being in Lockdown and being restricted as to what we can do (as is much of the countries worldwide) it has at least allowed me to make a good impression on the rigging.

Spars being made, I tend to Cad everything to enable me to see exactly where i am heading and get the measurements a lot more accurate than just going off the plans.
